Marie-Caroline CURT (promotion 2021) a créé Off/Grid, une marque de mobilier outdoor singulier et écoresponsable qui assoit sa notoriété en France et à l’étranger.

Tout est parti d'un fauteuil tipy, co-créé en 1959 par son grand-père photographe et un de ses amis designer. Fauteuil qui trône dans la maison familiale depuis de nombreuses années et qui a inspiré Marie-Caroline, alors en télétravail pendant la crise Covid. 

Pendant son alternance, Marie-Caroline devait travailler sur la création d'un produit. C'est ainsi qu'elle a eu le déclic en remettant au goût du jour ce fauteuil, avec une production artisanale et made in Occitanie. Elle décide alors de créer sa propre marque à Toulouse fin 2021. 

Son ambition : créer une ligne d'objets durables. 

Les empiècements des matériaux proviennent de chutes de cuirs récoltées en Occitanie et les tissus de plusieurs régions de France. La confection se déroule dans l'atelier familial, atelier dans lequel Marie-Caroline travaille avec son père sur deux prototypes : une table d'appoint et une table basse qui seront présentées au Salon Maison & Objets ce mois-ci. 

Off/Grid est présente en Europe, Asie et Moyen-Orient et souhaite poursuivre son développement à l'international grâce aux salons notamment.

La marque est distribuée auprès de petites boutiques ou de professionnels non-revendeurs comme des hôtels. Elle cible également les architectes d'intérieur. Pour 2023, l'entreprise va élargir son site vitrine en site marchand et a pour objectif de créer huit emplois à trois ans. 

Off/Grid, lauréate « Start » du Réseau Entreprendre Occitanie Garonne, entend s’implanter davantage sur le marché haut de gamme. Elle espère lever des fonds à l’horizon 2026 en vue de faire perdurer un savoir-faire familial.

Marie-Caroline Curt (class of 2021) has designed Off/Grid, a unique, eco-friendly outdoor furniture brand that is currently gaining momentum in France and abroad.

It all began with a TIPY® armchair, designed in 1959 by her photographer grandfather and his designer friend; an armchair that had been in the family home for many years and inspired Marie-Caroline, whilst working from home during Covid.

During her work-study programme, Marie-Caroline had to design a product. This is when she came up with the idea of bringing the armchair back to life with an artisanal and made in Occitania production process. She then decided to create her own brand in Toulouse at the end of 2021.

Her aim was to design a line of sustainable products.

The pieces of material come from scrap leather gathered in Occitania and the fabrics from various different regions in France. The items are made in the family workshop, where Marie-Caroline is working with her father on two prototypes: a side table and a coffee table which will be revealed at the Maison & Objets trade fair this month.

Off/Grid is present in Europe, Asia and the Middle East and hopes to continue its international growth, namely through trade fairs.

The brand targets small boutiques or businesses that do not engage in resale such as hotels. It is also aimed at interior designers. In 2023, the company will transform its showcase website into a commercial website and hopes to create eight jobs over the next three years. 

Off/Grid, the Réseau Entreprendre Occitanie Garonne “Start” winner, intends to become further established in the high-end market. The brand hopes to raise funds by 2026 to keep this family craft alive.
