L’EM Normandie ouvre un nouveau campus international à Boston aux Etats-Unis / EM Normandie opens a new international campus in Boston, USA

À l’occasion d’un déplacement aux côtés d’Edouard PHILIPPE, Maire du Havre, Président de la communauté urbaine Le Havre Seine Métropole, Elian PILVIN (promotion 1996), Directeur Général de l’EM Normandie a signé un partenariat avec UMass Boston College of Management (UMB-CM) renforçant un accord existant depuis 2016 et annonçant l’implantation de la Business School française aux Etats-Unis. Ce nouveau campus, installé au sein de UMass Boston College of Management, accueillera ses premiers étudiants en septembre 2025.

Un nouveau campus international aux Etats-Unis

Après Oxford, Dublin et Dubaï, l’EM Normandie poursuit son développement à l’international sur un nouveau modèle partenarial avec UMass Boston, qui fait partie de l’écosystème universitaire d’excellence du Massachusetts. 

L’implantation du campus est le résultat d’un partenariat historique et stratégique depuis 2016. UMB-CM et l’EM Normandie travaillent déjà en étroite collaboration afin d’inscrire leurs travaux de recherche, notamment sur la RSE, dans une dynamique internationale pour servir l’innovation et Instaurer de la mobilité d'échange entre étudiants et enseignants. À ce jour, 300 étudiants du Programme Grande Ecole de l’EM Normandie ont suivi un semestre d’études à UMB-CM.

Pour dispenser les cours et développer des activités de recherche conjointes avec les professeurs de UMB-CM, deux enseignants-chercheurs de l’EM Normandie – toutes disciplines de management confondues – séjournent chaque semestre à Boston. 

« Ce campus matérialise une relation déjà très forte avec UMB-CM et notre volonté de développer un modèle partenarial différent. Cette alliance stratégique dans une ville monde portuaire, avec un écosystème intellectuel riche est le pendant sur la côte Est américaine de notre campus d’Oxford. Notre objectif est d’être un acteur au service des territoires sur lesquels nous nous implantons et de contribuer au développement économique local. Nous nous réjouissons de rejoindre une université aussi prestigieuse, accréditée AACSB, en phase avec notre philosophie School for good » explique Elian PILVIN, Directeur Général de l’EM Normandie. 

Ce campus permettra, dès septembre 2025, d’accueillir les étudiants du BBA de l’EM Normandie, qui souhaiteront effectuer une année de leur Bachelor In Business Administration aux Etats-Unis, en plus des étudiants en mobilité du Programme Grande Ecole. 

À plus long terme, seront développés avec UMass Boston College of Management des programmes communs de niveau Master sur la thématique de la logistique, Supply chain, et de la RSE en adéquation avec les orientations stratégiques de l’école. En cohérence avec la philosophie School for Good de l’EM Normandie, ce campus deviendra également un centre d’innovation RSE. Afin d’accompagner le développement et la croissance de ce 4^ème campus international, une équipe permanente sera recrutée sur place pour assurer notamment la transmission de l’identité de l’école sur ce campus partenaire. 

UMass Boston s’est dotée d’un plan directeur de 25 ans pour créer un campus respectueux de l'environnement et respectueux des piétons. Avec de nouveaux bâtiments et des allées panoramiques créant un campus plus vert et plus accueillant.

During a visit alongside Edouard Philippe, Mayor of Le Havre and President of the Urban Community Le Havre Seine Métropole, Elian Pilvin, Dean of EM Normandie, signed a partnership with UMass Boston College of Management (UMB-CM), reinforcing an existing agreement since 2016 and announcing the establishment of the French business school in the United States. This new campus, located within UMass Boston College of Management, will welcome its first students in September 2025.

At the end of April, Edouard Philippe, Mayor of Le Havre, went to the United States with a delegation of Le Havre's managers to reinforce the cooperation between the US and Le Havre on economic, port and academic issues. Elian Pilvin, Dean of EM Normandie, took advantage of this trip to announce the upcoming opening of the school in Boston. Between a visit to Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), the French delegation went to the UMass Boston College of Management (UMB-CM) to attend the signing of the official establishment of EM Normandie on the campus.

A new international campus in the USA
After Oxford, Dublin and Dubai, EM Normandie is pursuing its international development through a new partnership model with UMass Boston, which is part of the Massachusetts university ecosystem of excellence.

The establishment of the campus is the result of a historical and strategic partnership since 2016. UMB-CM and EM Normandie are already working closely together to place their research work, particularly on CSR, in an international dynamic to facilitate innovation and exchanges between students and teachers. To date, 300 students from EM Normandie's Master in Management have spent a semester studying at UMB-CM. To teach courses and develop joint research activities with UMB-CM professors, two EM Normandie professors – from all management disciplines – go to Boston every semester.

"This campus materializes an already strong relationship with UMB-CM and our will to develop a different partnership model. This strategic alliance in a world port city with a rich intellectual ecosystem is the equivalent of our campus in Oxford on the American East Coast. Our goal is to contribute to local economic development. We are delighted to be joining such a prestigious, AACSB accredited university, which is in line with our School for Good philosophy" explains Elian Pilvin, Dean of EM Normandie.

From September 2025 onwards, this campus will be able to welcome EM Normandie's BBA students who wish to spend a year of their Bachelor in Business Administration in the United States, in addition to the exchange students of the Master in Management programme.
In the longer term, joint Master's level programmes will be developed with UMass Boston College of Management in logistics, supply chain and CSR. In line with EM Normandie's School for Good philosophy and strategic orientations, this campus will also become a centre for CSR innovation. To support the development and growth of this 4th international campus, a permanent team will be recruited on site to ensure the transmission of the school's identity to this partner campus.

UMass Boston has a 25-year master plan to create an environmentally friendly and pedestrian-friendly campus. With new buildings and scenic walkways creating a greener, more welcoming campus.
