Open Talks 2025 by Alumni EM Normandie
The EM Normandie Alumni Association invites you to an exceptional evening with the Drappier Champagne House 🍾
On Thursday 10 April 2025, join us for an immersion into the heart of exceptional know-how at Open Talks 2025!
On the programme: tradition, innovation and excellence
How can a Champagne House combine family heritage and modernity to build a successful future? This is the question we will be exploring during this exceptional evening, in the company of a prestigious guest: Hugo Drappier, who will be interviewed by Antoine Gerbelle, Editor-in-Chief of Tellementsoif.tv and former Grand Reporter for La revue du vin de France.
Hugo Drappier represents the 8ᵉ generation of the Drappier Champagne House, embodying the transmission of age-old family know-how while bringing a resolutely forward-looking vision. His career path, marked by an early passion for viticulture and enriching international experiences, makes him a key player in the Champagne revival.
🔹 A living heritage: from childhood, Hugo was immersed in the culture of winegrowing, sharing unique moments with his grandfather André Drappier, a true icon of the estate.
🔹 A vision focused on innovation: committed to organic farming and a fervent advocate of low-intervention winemaking, he helped make Drappier the first carbon-neutral champagne house in 2015.
🔹 A man of many talents

From the family Jeep to exceptional bubbles: Hugo Drappier's odyssey
Born in the heart of Champagne, Hugo Drappier didn't grow up like other children. While others played with toy cars, he criss-crossed the vineyards in a Jeep with his grandfather, "Papyou", a sandbox in the back to keep him busy between plots. By the age of 10, he was pruning his first vines and already knew he would be carrying on the legacy of the Maison Drappier, of which he proudly embodies the 8ᵉ generation.
But before returning to his native land, Hugo took to the high seas: after a BTS in Viticulture and Oenology in Beaune, he honed his skills in Switzerland, New Zealand, South Africa and the greatest vineyards of France. A voyage of initiation that enriched his vision of wine and strengthened his determination to develop Champagne viticulture.
In 2016, he took up the family torch with a clear mission: to combine tradition and innovation. Under his leadership, Drappier became the first carbon-neutral champagne house, and he refined ever more respectful winemaking methods, notably by eliminating sulfur from certain cuvées.
And when he's not making glasses sparkle, he's flying - literally. An aviation enthusiast, he is a private pilot and, between flights, he sometimes swaps the bottle for a helmet: Hugo is also a volunteer fireman.
A winemaker, an innovator, an adventurer. A man who proves that behind every bubble, there's a story to tell.
